Fleet Foxes have been one of my top bands for years and with each passing show, I've gotten a better and better experience. I had thought I had reached the pinnacle with the "Shore" tour featuring Uwade at Forest Hills Stadium in 2022, however this new intimate experience with Robin solo was rather quite magical. Robin Pecknold is one of the greatest voices and song writers of our generation and getting to listen and see him from just a few feet away and in my favorite venue left me with jolts of amazement down my back throughout the show. It's no surprise that he sold out both nights at the Bowery Ballroom given his popularity. I was lucky enough to buy a ticket off my friend Alex who was able to secure 3 tickets when they went on sale. Despite his stardom, Robin was super down to earth, self proclaiming how he was dressed like he was "ready to clean your gutters", and chatting with the crowd and continually thanking us for being respectful, quiet, and letting him play his music for us. He recounted how he recently got to play rhythm guitar for Joni Mitchell on tour which required band practice and learning the tracks and deep cuts in the discography. Robin reflected on how thankful he was to let him go through his catalog of songs and play some that don't always make it to the tour setlist. Just because they don't make it on tour doesn't mean they are unworthy and doomed to be neglected. The set included a mix of favorites, deep cuts, and a bunch of his favorite covers. I think this will now be the Fleet Foxes show to top in my books, and I think that will be a nearly impossible task. About This Footage

The intimate setting of the Bowery Ballroom in NYC on November 17, 2022, is where we find Robin Pecknold, Fleet Foxes' enigmatic frontman, delivering a solo performance that's as much about connection as it is about music. This clip, a Judee Sill cover titled "Lopin' Around Thru the Cosmos," is notable not just for its musical quality but also for the context in which it was recorded.

At this point in his career, Pecknold has already built a reputation as one of the most distinctive voices and songwriters of our generation. Fleet Foxes had been on tour in support of their critically acclaimed album "Shore," featuring Uwade at Forest Hills Stadium earlier that year. The Bowery Ballroom show was an intimate affair, with Pecknold performing solo, which adds a layer of vulnerability to the performance.

What makes this clip rare and significant is not just the music itself but also the context provided by the viewer who recorded it. This fan's enthusiasm and admiration for Pecknold are palpable, and their account of the evening's events paints a picture of an artist who is deeply grateful for his audience and committed to sharing his music with them.

One of the most striking aspects of this clip is the way Pecknold engages with his audience. He's described as being "super down to earth," chatting with the crowd, and thanking them for their respect and attention. This kind of connection between artist and audience is all too rare in today's live music landscape, where the focus often seems to be on spectacle rather than substance.

The fact that Pecknold took the time to play some of his favorite covers, including Judee Sill's "Lopin' Around Thru the Cosmos," suggests a deep respect for the musical traditions that have influenced him. This is an artist who is not content simply to perform his own material but also wants to pay homage to those who have come before him.

Watching this clip, one can't help but feel a sense of awe at Pecknold's talent and generosity as an artist. He's a performer who is fully present in the moment, connecting with his audience on a deep level while also delivering music that is both beautiful and thought-provoking.

As the viewer notes, this performance may have been the highlight of their year, and it's easy to see why. The combination of Pecknold's soaring vocals, the intimacy of the setting, and the sense of connection between artist and audience all come together to create a truly magical experience. This clip is a testament to the power of live music to transcend the boundaries of genre and style, speaking directly to our hearts and souls in a way that few other art forms can.

The Sony RX100VII camera used to record this clip captures every detail of Pecknold's performance with crystal clarity, from the subtle nuances of his voice to the expressive gestures of his hands. It's a reminder that even in an era of high-definition video and social media, there's still something special about capturing live music on film.

Ultimately, this clip is more than just a recording of a concert – it's a snapshot of a moment in time, a testament to the enduring power of music to connect us with each other and ourselves.
