James Cotton delivers a soulful and emotionally charged performance with “Heard You’re Getting Married,” a standout track from his 1990 album Giant. Showcasing his mastery of both harmonica and heartfelt storytelling, Cotton blends raw blues feeling with a touch of melancholy, creating one of the most evocative songs in his later catalog. Released in 1990 on the Alligator Records label, Giant marked a return to form for Cotton — a record filled with power, precision, and soul. “Heard You’re Getting Married” captures the bittersweet side of the blues, as Cotton’s weathered voice and plaintive harp lines tell the story of lost love and lingering emotion. The track is driven by tight musicianship and a classic Chicago blues groove, reminding listeners why Cotton earned his nickname, “Mr. Superharp.” Throughout Giant, Cotton demonstrates his enduring vitality and musical authority. Having played with legends like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Sonny Boy Williamson II, he brought decades of experience and authenticity to every note. “Heard You’re Getting Married” is both a testament to James Cotton’s emotional depth and a perfect example of his ability to make the blues deeply personal and profoundly human. #JamesCotton #HeardYoureGettingMarried #Giant #MrSuperharp #AlligatorRecords #ChicagoBlues #ElectricBlues #ClassicBlues #Harmonica #BluesLegend
