Pre-order "All I See Is War" now: https://RiseRecords.lnk.to/AISIW LYRICS: It takes time to blow. Say it ain't so. Stuck in the middle of it. Too wise to know. Oh here we go. We’ve grown so used to it. So numb all the time. How have we become so empty? Overcomplicated. We’re all to blame. Oversaturated. It’s such a shame. It's all who you know. Death undertow. We all fall victim to it. All chemical. Where have we gone? Are we just used to this? So numb all the time. How have we become so empty? Overcomplicated. We’re all to blame. Oversaturated. It’s such a shame. If we cannot feel how can we heal at all? If we’re overmedicated. We’re all to blame. Here we are once again. How'd we get here? Will it end? Look at you lost with separation, complicated. There’s no one left to blame. You’re just a shell of a man left wasted, medicated. I’m standing on the outside looking in. Overcomplicated. We’re all to blame. Oversaturated. It’s such a shame. If we cannot feel how can we heal at all? If we’re overmedicated. If we’re all to blame. Directed by: Caleb Mallery

About This Footage

The Sevendust clip "Medicated" is a striking representation of the band's angst-ridden sound and the anxieties of their time. Released in 2003, this music video was directed by Caleb Mallery and features the band's signature blend of heavy riffs and soaring vocals. What makes this clip notable is its unflinching portrayal of the consequences of overmedication and societal disconnection.

Sevendust had already established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the early 2000s, their self-titled debut album released in 1997 having achieved gold certification despite modest sales. However, it was their subsequent albums that showcased the band's ability to craft catchy hooks and introspective lyrics. "Medicated" is no exception, its lyrics a scathing critique of modern society's reliance on medication as a solution to life's problems.

The song's themes of numbness, disconnection, and the search for meaning are timeless, but they were particularly relevant in 2003. The early 2000s saw a surge in the use of prescription medications, with many people turning to pills to cope with stress, anxiety, and other issues. Sevendust's lyrics capture the sense of desperation and disconnection that comes from relying on medication as a crutch.

The music video itself is a visual representation of these themes. The band members are shown performing in a dimly lit room, surrounded by medical equipment and pills. The imagery is haunting and unsettling, underscoring the idea that we've become numb to the world around us. The video's use of muted colors and slow camera movements adds to the sense of unease, making "Medicated" a compelling watch.

One of the most striking aspects of this clip is its commentary on modern society's obsession with prescription medication. In 2003, the US was in the midst of a prescription painkiller epidemic, with many people becoming addicted to pills like OxyContin and Vicodin. Sevendust's lyrics capture the sense of desperation that comes from relying on medication as a solution to life's problems.

The song's message is clear: we've become so numb, so disconnected from the world around us, that we're unable to feel or heal. The repetition of the phrase "we're all to blame" drives home the idea that this problem is not just individual, but societal. We've created a culture that encourages people to rely on medication as a solution to life's problems, rather than confronting and addressing the root causes.

Watching "Medicated" today, it's striking how relevant its themes remain. The song's commentary on modern society's obsession with prescription medication is more timely now than ever, given the ongoing opioid crisis in the US. Sevendust's lyrics capture the sense of desperation and disconnection that comes from relying on medication as a crutch.

The clip also highlights the band's ability to craft catchy hooks and introspective lyrics. The song's chorus is infectious, with its repetition of "overcomplicated" and "oversaturated" driving home the idea that we've become numb to the world around us. The video's use of medical equipment and pills as props adds a sense of unease, making "Medicated" a compelling watch.

In conclusion, Sevendust's clip "Medicated" is a striking representation of the band's angst-ridden sound and the anxieties of their time. Its commentary on modern society's obsession with prescription medication remains relevant today, given the ongoing opioid crisis in the US. The song's message is clear: we've become so numb, so disconnected from the world around us, that we're unable to feel or heal.
