Billy has toured extensively with bands such as, Derek and the Dominoes, Henry Paul Band, Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones, The Charlie Daniels Band, Molly Hatchett, ZZ Top, Rossington-Collins, and many others. In 1988, Billy left the Bellamy's and moved to Nashville to start his recording career. Billy had his first pop hit by the band Paco. The song, "Call it Love" went to #2 on the Billboard AC charts, #2 on the Billboard AOR charts, and #15 on the Hot 100. It also went #1 in many countries around the world. Billy received his first gold record for this endeavor and received a BMI pop songwriter award and also eventually received a Million AirPlay award. He has written for artists including, but limited to, Shana Petrone, Yankee Grey, Martina McBride, Sara Evans, Tammy Cochran, James Otto, Dusty Drake and Joey Martin.
