Jackie Mittoo & the Skatalites
Here is some rare footage, from the Step Lively Archive, of Jackie Mittoo, interviewed in 1986, prior to a show at the Latin Quarter with the Skatalites. This was an early shoot with several technical problems in the house, as I remember, so not ideal audio or video...but still a wonderful capture. Also included in this clip are a couple of statements from Lloyd Knibb and Roland Alphonso of the Skatalites on Jackie's passing, which were shot in 1990 and included in an episode of the Reggae Strong series. Many of these giants have left the Earth and are roaming the celestial musical sphere, but we will always salute and remember them. Rest in Peace and Love, Jackie Mittoo, Lloyd Knib, Roland Alphonso, Lloyd Brevitt, Tommy McCook and of course, Stafford Ashani. Give thanks to Patrick, Electric Dread, for letting us shoot in his rehearsal studio.
