About This Footage

Unseen Footage of Sevendust's Early Days

In 1998, Sevendust was on the cusp of breaking into the mainstream with their self-titled debut album, but few people outside of the Pacific Northwest knew about the band's raw energy and unbridled passion. This footage from Spokane, Washington, is a rare glimpse into the early days of one of the most influential rock bands of the 2000s.

Sevendust was formed in Atlanta in 1994 by Vinnie Hornsby, Morgan Rose, and John Connolly, but it wasn't until Lajon Witherspoon joined as lead vocalist that the band started to take shape. Their early sound was a fusion of grunge, metal, and Southern rock, which would eventually become their signature style. By 1998, they had released their debut album, which may have only sold 310 copies in its first week but would go on to achieve gold certification.

This footage from Squeeze TV at Johnny Rockets in Spokane is a testament to the band's early dedication and perseverance. The show was part of Sevendust's first West Coast tour, and it's clear that they were still finding their footing as a live act. Despite the chaos and intensity of the performance, the band members are visibly exhausted but still giving it their all.

One of the most striking aspects of this footage is the raw energy of the crowd. The audience is packed into Johnny Rockets, screaming and singing along to every word. It's clear that Sevendust had already built a loyal following in the Pacific Northwest, even if they hadn't yet gained national recognition. This footage is a reminder that great bands often start small, playing dingy clubs and bars to anyone who will listen.

The significance of this footage lies not only in its rarity but also in its historical context. Sevendust's early days were marked by struggles with record labels and internal conflicts, but they persevered and eventually achieved mainstream success with albums like "Home" and "Animosity". This footage is a snapshot of the band at a pivotal moment in their career, when they were still finding their voice and style.

Watching this footage, viewers will get a glimpse into the early days of one of rock's most beloved bands. They'll see a raw, unbridled energy that would eventually become Sevendust's trademark sound. They'll also witness the band's dedication to their craft, even in the face of adversity. This footage is not just a rare treat for fans but also a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work.

The 15-minute video is a treasure trove of early Sevendust history, featuring interviews with the band members, behind-the-scenes footage, and, of course, their electrifying live performance. It's a must-watch for anyone interested in rock music or the history of this influential band.
