👤 [ARTIST INFO] Veronica Sandra Karin Maggio (born March 15, 1981 in Uppsala) is a Swedish singer of Swedish and Italian origin. She won the category "Årets nykomling" (Newcomer of the Year) in the Grammisgalan 2007. In March 2006, Maggio released her debut single "Dumpa mig" (Dump Me); the video for the single soon became the hit of the week on TV stations like ZTV. Her other single after "Dumpa mig" was the song "Nöjd?" (Satisfied?). She signed a contract with Universal Music and went on a tour in Summer 2006. Maggio's debut album is called Vatten & bröd (Water and Bread). The lyrics and music were written by Stefan Gräslund, except for the rap verse in "Vi har, vi har" (We Have, We Have), which was written by LKM Kristoffer Malmsten. On March 26, 2008, Maggio released another album – Och vinnaren är... (And the Winner Is...), which she wrote and recorded together with Oskar "Kihlen" Linnros. Maggio went to high school in Uppsala on Bolandsskolan's music department and was also the lead singer of the group Solitude, with other members Daniel Fredriksson, Marcus "Gonzo" Berglund, Karl Jansson, and Kristoffer Hoflund. In 2009 she enjoyed some success in Norway and Denmark with her single Måndagsbarn (Monday kid) reaching 1st position at the Norwegian charts,[2] as well as being A-listed on the Norwegian radio station NRK P3, and the album Och vinnaren är... broke into the top 40 albums list. 🎵 [SONG INFO] "Self Esteem" is a song by punk rock group The Offspring. It is the eighth (or seventh, on cassette) track from their third studio album Smash (1994) and was released as the second single from the album. The song was a worldwide hit, reaching No.1 in Latvia, Norway, and Sweden and was one of the most successful singles released by the band. However, frontman Dexter Holland mentioned in the Complete Music Video Collection that this song has not been very popular in Japan. "Self Esteem" was nominated for the 1995 MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Song, but lost to The Cranberries' "Zombie". The song also appears as the third track on their Greatest Hits (2005). Music video The music video for the song was directed by Darren Lavett (who directed the previous video "Come Out and Play") and was shot in August 1994 after the Offspring had just gone both gold and platinum with Smash. In the music video, several people are doing things like stunts, with flashes with the band playing on stage. In the video, Dexter wears three different band t-shirts. In the beginning, he was wearing a Sex Pistols t-shirt. Later he wears a t-shirt of The Germs, and then a Vandals t-shirt when he briefly appears as a human skeleton. In an interview on The Offspring's Greatest Hits DVD, Noodles claimed that he gave his Fender Stratocaster (which he played in the video) to one of the actors who appeared in the video. "Self Esteem" remains one of the Offspring's popular videos. It was extremely successful on MTV, and helped launch the song to success on mainstream radio. DVD appearances The music video also appears on the Complete Music Video Collection DVD. It was released in 2005. Covers and other uses The song has for many years been the last song played when the Offspring play a live concert. The song was also featured on the game SingStar Rocks!. The song was also transcribed in the June 1997 issue of Guitar World. During Trivium's early days, guitarist Matt Heafy performed a cover version of this song at his middle school talent show at Lake Brantley High School. The song was covered by the Cuban Boys on their album Eastwood. The song was made available as downloadable content in the Rock Band series on October 7, 2008. The song appears on the music video game Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. Charles Hamilton sampled this song for his song "Rockstar Girl". Swedish singer/songwriter Veronica Maggio has made an acoustic cover of this song. The song was used by professional wrestler Bryan Danielson as his entrance theme for several years on the independent wrestling scene and in Ring of Honor. Game appearances The song was released as downloadable content for the video game Rock Band. The song was released in the first "Offspring pack" which was released on October 7, 2008 along with "Gone Away" and "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)". It also appears on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. 🔗 [LINKS] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veronica_Maggio Official Page http://www.veronicamaggio.se/ Official YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy5gjsI0RZphVgWVmxSP8UA Veronica Maggio on Apple Music https://music.apple.com/us/artist/veronica-maggio/113668567 and Spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/2OIWxN9xUhgUHkeUCWCaNs Facebook Page http://sv-se.facebook.com/veronicamaggioofficial #veronicamaggio #selfesteem #acoustic #acousticcover #theoffspringcover
