THE LOST 70'S GEM: AUTOMATIC MAN - VISITORS (FULL ALBUM VINYL)

This is the second and final album from Automatic Man released in 1977. It is not available anywhere for sale or streaming and has been lost in time. I ripped this and cleaned it up from vinyl. You will never hear a better quality version than this. Automatic man was an American rock band from San Francisco. Consisting of well-respected musicians of diverse backgrounds within the rock, funk and jazz communities of the mid-1970s, Automatic Man played progressive rock and space rock. First album 1976 was Michael Schrieve on drums, Pat Thrall on guitar, Bayete on vocals/keys, Doni Harvey on bass. Second album 1977 retained only Pat Thrall and Bayete, added Jerome Rimson on bass, Glenn Simmonds on drums. Despite a well-reviewed 1976 eponymous début on Island Records and a lone charting single, 1976's "My Pearl", (Chaka Kahn went crazy over this one when she met Thrall) which reached No. 97 on the Billboard Hot 100., the line-up of Automatic Man was not cohesive. After a second album 'Visitors', they disbanded in 1977, retaining a small but very loyal, global cult following. They had problems doing the music live, as the tech was not advanced enough at the time. They influenced Prince and Chaka Kahn. Number for words titles like 'Y 2 me' is something Prince used a LOT. Pat Thrall is one of my favorite guitar players based on his work on the two Automatic man albums, his 3 albums with Pat Travers, and the hugely underrated 1982 album 'Hughes/thrall'. 1.
