Elizabeth Cotten - Honey Babe, Your Papa Cares For You (cover on a Martin 00-15)
Here's a cover of a song I've heard on an Elizabeth Cotten album entitled 'Live!'. I believe that it may be a traditional song, but her version is the only one that I have heard so far (if anyone knows more about the song, I'd love to know!). I am playing this on my new Martin 00-15 (back on loan from "1artfulbodger", an amazing, small body, mahogany guitar, which I fell in love with as soon as I picked it up, so I hope you enjoy this performance. Elizabeth Cotten was a self-taught blues and folk musician, singer and songwriter. born January 5, 1893 in Carrboro, North Carolina died June 29, 1987 in Syracuse, New York (Aged 94) She developed her own style of playing left-handed by holding a normally tuned guitar upside down so she played the melodies with her thumb and the bass lines with her fingers.
