Inez Jones - American singer, also sings jazz. She came from Memphis, where she began her career as a pianist and singer. From Memphis she left for Kansas City, where she performed at local venues. In 1937 she met her husband, Paul Jones, who was a saxophonist for the band at the same club. Inez founded and ran her own trio, with whom she played and sang in one club for five years (1940-1945). Inez and Paul Jones left Kansas City for California. They went to Los Angeles, where her deep, warm voice was also appreciated. She has performed in clubs with such musicians as Red Callender and Irving Ashby. The next town where she moved to was San Francisco (and its surroundings). For three years she was the star of Harry's Club in Oakland and then for more than five years at the Rainbow Inn in San Francisco. In 1952, she recorded several tracks for Victor. She worked with: bassist Red Callender, drummer Chico Hamilton and pianist Howard Biggs. In mid-1957, Jones recorded for Omegatape the material from which the album "Have You Met Miss Jones" was written, released by Omega on tape recorders (ST 7018), and later by Riverside as "Have You Met Inez Jones". The session was accompanied by musicians who previously played with Nat King Cole: Oscar Moore and Carl Perkins. At the end of her career, Jones stayed in Oakland. In 1993, American television broadcast a documentary by David Collier, which features several married couples. As one of those couples, Inez and Paul Jones have been together for 57 years. After their death, a garden park called Paul and Inez Jones Neighborhood Garden was erected on the grounds of Linden Street in Oakland where the Joneses lived. George Sylvester "Red" Callender was an American string bass and tuba player. He is perhaps best known as a jazz musician, but worked with an array of pop, rock and vocal acts as a member of The Wrecking Crew, a group of first-call session musicians in Los Angeles. Callender also co-wrote the 1959 top-10 hit "Primrose Lane".
