Hong Kong Garden - Siouxsie and the Banshees (Guitar Cover Playthrough) Released in ‘78, this is one of the most iconic songs during the dawn of the post-punk era. Although this is considered post-punk, John McKay’s guitar in this track still has that old-school punk grit and rawness with barely no effects. This song basically revolves around two chords but the tremendous energy and voicing changes make all the difference. And the main riff sounds simple but is deceptively tricky to play because of the pedal points, double stops and that big stretch with the pinky 🤘. For this playthrough, I left the Jaguar bone-dry with almost no effects except for a Boss GE-7 Equalizer (to take off some of the low end) and medium dirt from a Boss SD-1 going straight to a Roland JC22 with no effects.
