Easter greetings in advance to one and all! Here's a very special guest singer - my earliest musical influence and number one fan, none other than my very own father, Sam Kuna! He recorded a few albums back in the day, but that era ended in the 80s well before I came along. He's wanted to revive some old favorites for a long while but we never found the time, so somewhat on impulse I decided to get this project together. The song is originally by the Heritage Singers and later covered by Dallas Holm. I do love these more narrative-type songs that tell a story through their lyrics! We've put our own spin on it here, along with a snippet of a Spanish version, dedicated to the late Xavier Magdeleno who was a good friend to us when my family were new arrivals in a foreign land. I was very young then, but I will always remember fondly the delicious artichokes and tamales they prepared. Many thanks to my husband Daniel for helping out on chords and guitar arrangements! I tried my best with the keys experimentation - please be gentle, I haven't played the piano in 19 years and had all of a month's experience with a keyboard when I tracked this.
