Josh Martin Covers Darrell Scott's "Never Leave Harlan Alive"
I first heard this song when my dad brought home a Patty Loveless CD from the local flea market. I just remember how the beauitful melody and lyric chilled me to the core. I was just a kid with no history lessons (yet) on the hardships of my Appalachian ancestors. But boy this song ever open the door of curiosity. This video was filmed on an old iPhone, in the back yard of the house my grandparents lived in for 50+ years, beside the creek that provided such beloved recreation and brought the nuisance of floods to our community of Eastern, Kentucky. I hope you all enjoy and feel the weight of the song, penned by the incrediblly talented Darrell Scott. For more, visit my website at http://joshmartinofficial.com
