Together - Chuck Berry (Chess Records) 1955, 78 rpm! A Direct Recording! This was Chuck Berry's 2nd single, and was written by Chuck while on the road (both sides).. recorded hastily, the A-side reaching #8 on the R&B charts but not charting pop. I have to say this is one "different" record of Chuck's! It doesn't remind me of any of his other songs, I suppose it may be an acquired taste, but I just love this man's music! R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980 by drummer Bill Berry, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and lead vocalist Michael Stipe, who were students at the University of Georgia. R.E.M. was noted for Buck's arpeggiated "jangle" guitar playing; Stipe's distinctive vocal style, unique stage presence, and cryptic lyrics; Mills's countermelodic bass lines and backing vocals; and Berry's tight, economical drumming.
