Chinese Piano Red Songs : Geese Flying South (雁南飞) by Wang Hui-Xian
The era under Chairman Mao and the subsequent Cultural Revolution produced a large number of patriotic and Nationalistic Chinese music. Well known of these are "The East is Red" and "March of the Volunteers", both of which have been used as Chinese National Anthems, and possibly the most famous work of that era - The Yellow River Cantata and Piano Concerto. Notwithstanding the propaganda and political undertones of the lyrics of some of these "Red Songs", they have left a musical legacy of some very memorable tunes. The wild geese fly south in the hope that Spring will be there.

Willie Lee Perryman, usually known professionally as Piano Red and later in life as Dr. Feelgood, was an American blues musician, the first to hit the pop music charts. He was a self-taught pianist who played in the barrelhouse blues style. His performing and recording careers emerged during the period of transition from completely segregated "race music" to rhythm and blues, which was marketed to both white and black audiences.
