Chinese Piano - Red Songs : The Moon and My Hometown (月之故乡) by Liu Zhuang Yansheng
The era under Chairman Mao and the subsequent Cultural Revolution produced a large number of patriotic and Nationalistic Chinese music. Well known of these are "The East is Red" and "March of the Volunteers", both of which have been used as Chinese National Anthems, and possibly the most famous work of that era - The Yellow River Cantata and Piano Concerto. Notwithstanding the propaganda and political undertones of the lyrics of some of these "Red Songs", they have left a musical legacy of some very memorable tunes. The Moon and My Hometown (月之故乡) tells of the singer contemplating the moon in the sky and its reflection in the water, and thinking of his hometown. The quiet, haunting melody reflects the stillness of the scenery.

Willie Lee Perryman, usually known professionally as Piano Red and later in life as Dr. Feelgood, was an American blues musician, the first to hit the pop music charts. He was a self-taught pianist who played in the barrelhouse blues style. His performing and recording careers emerged during the period of transition from completely segregated "race music" to rhythm and blues, which was marketed to both white and black audiences.
