The Allman Brothers Band perform Whipping Post live in Gainesville, Florida in 1982, restored in HD. A band built for the stage delivers the song at full force—extended improvisation, dual-drum drive, and Dickey Betts pushing the lineup to its limits. This era followed years of turmoil and reconstruction; the music stayed lethal. Song: Whipping Post Venue: University of Florida, Gainesville Year: 1982 Band lineup: Gregg Allman 🎤🎹 — Vocals, Keyboards Dickey Betts 🎸 — Guitar, Vocals Dan Toler 🎸 — Guitar Chuck Leavell 🎹 — Keyboards David “Rook” Goldflies 🎵 — Bass Butch Trucks 🥁 — Drums Jaimoe (Jai Johanny Johanson) 🥁 — Drums Originally written by Gregg Allman, Whipping Post remained a core of the live identity even after the classic lineup changed. This performance shows the group operating with urgency and precision, still commanding every room they stepped into. 🔔 Subscribe to Classic Rock on MV: http://bit.ly/3TQrjhx On this channel discover the greatest live performances, iconic concerts, and rare archival footage from the legends of classic rock.
