7Seconds’ The Crew was one of the most iconic albums of the 1980’s underground American punk and hardcore scene. Delivering 18 legendary songs in just 20 minutes, this classic record became the soundtrack to the suburban youth of that era. Known for their progressive and positive lyrics, 7Seconds became one of the first in the genre to address racism, homophobia, and sexism with songs such as “Not Just Boys Fun”, “Colourblind”, and “I Have A Dream,” which are all included on The Crew. Originally released on BYO Records in 1984, today Trust Records has announced The Crew - Deluxe Reissue, which sees its release on vinyl and for the first time ever, will be available across all digital streaming platforms come June 25. The audio has been remastered from the original analog tapes by producer David Gardner, who is known for his work remastering the entire Bad Brains’ back catalog. It has been immaculately repackaged as a gatefold and features a beautiful 20-page, full-color book on the oral history of the band from inception, through the making of The Crew. It also includes insights and anecdotes from the likes of Ian MacKaye, Jello Biafra, Keith Morris, Damian Abraham, Brian Baker, Fat Mike, Roger Miret, BYO founders Mark and Sean Stern and many others. Also included are unpublished flyers, photos, and other fun little trinkets. The original packaging, including labels, lyric sheet, and original colorways, has been reproduced in exact detail. Today you can listen to the remastered audio of “Young Till I Die,” which was a staple in their live set from 1984 until 2018, when the band officially disbanded. In the booklet from the deluxe version, frontman Kevin Seconds recounts “‘Young Until I Die’ was written in ’83. I was working at a casino and I remember writing the lyrics on the back of a Keno ticket. I was working this eight-hour shift as the guy that gave change out to people playing slot machines.
