On June 26th my friend, our friend, Rick deVito passed away at the age of 64. We had already decided that we wanted to honour him with a In Memoriam Tribute Concert, performed by musicians who played with him during his impressive career. This concert was held on October 24th at the beautiful venue Lantaren Venster in Rotterdam. Only 10 minutes before the show would end one of Rickey's daughters told me that their song with their father is Papa Was A Rolling Stone. It was not on the setlist....so I asked Eddie taylor: Eddie, could you do Papa.. acappella, please,.... YES, I can.!!! Right! So after the first encore I announced that Rio and Romy , the daughteers, and Diana, Rickey's sister, wanted tot share this song with the audience. Becuaes this night was theri farewell ceremony tot their fther. They couldn't attend the funeral ceremony in Spain, Ibiza, on July 7th, when Rickey's ashes were strewn in the Mediterrean Sea, according to his last wish, by sister Diana and Rickey's wife Heleen. With this video, shot by my buddy Frank Wiesman, I want to share this very emotional moment with everybody. Due to a technical matter there is a blanc at 17 seconds before the end, sorry. Rickey, this one's for you. Take care in heaven, your soulmate Ton.
