IF I’M BATTERED AND TORN. STRIP IT DOWN TO THE CORE. TRY TO FIGHT THE REDEMPTION. WE SCREAM EVERY SINGLE WORD. BEGGING FOR SOME RETRIBUTION. YOU ONLY FEED ON THE WEAK. IF IT WAS ALL MEANT TO BE. IS THAT THE ONLY CONDITION? I pray it turns around. SOMETHING TO BELIEVE. THAT PULLS US TO OUR KNEES. WHEN ALL IS LOST, WE FIND OUR WILL TO LET IT GO. IF IT’S COMFORT THAT YOU NEED. TRY AND JUST BELIEVE YOU’RE UNFORGIVEN. JUST ADMIT IT. FROM THE DAY THAT YOU’RE BORN. ALL YOU HEAR IS THE SCORN. FROM YOUR OWN INSTITUTION. WIPE THE DIRT OFF YOUR TEETH. AND TRY AND SAY WHAT YOU MEAN. TO START YOUR OWN REVOLUTION WE SCREAM NEVER TO BE HEARD. CUTTING OFF THE ONE SOLUTION. YOU ONLY BRING THE DISEASE. AND STRIP AWAY WHAT YOU NEED. AND HOPE THAT GOD WILL FORGIVE US. I PRAY HE COMES AROUND. SOMETHING TO BELIEVE. THAT PULLS US TO OUR KNEES. WHEN ALL IS LOST, WE FIND THE WILL TO LIVE AND LET IT GO. IF IT’S COMFORT THAT YOU NEED. TRY AND JUST BELIEVE YOU’RE UNFORGIVEN. JUST ADMIT IT. Sacrilegious. Do you believe? Watch the pieces fall. HOLD US DOWN. NO ONE WINS HOLY WARS. JUST TELL ME NOW I NEED TO KNOW. SO PLEASE PULL US TO OUR KNEES. WHEN ALL IS LOST, WE FIND THE WILL TO LIVE AND LET IT GO. IF IT’S COMFORT THAT YOU NEED. TRY AND JUST BELIEVE. WHY? JUST ADMIT IT. IF IT’S COMFORT THAT YOU NEED. TRY AND JUST BELIEVE YOU’RE. I PRAY IT TURNS AROUND. Directed by Scott Hansen

About This Footage

This footage is a live performance clip of Sevendust's song "Unforgiven," and it's notable for its raw energy and emotional intensity. The band was formed in 1994 by bassist Vinnie Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose, and guitarist John Connolly, but it wasn't until the arrival of lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery that they found their signature sound.

At the time this clip was filmed, Sevendust had already released two albums: their self-titled debut in 1997 and "Sevendust II" in 1999. Their music was gaining traction, but it wasn't until their third album, "Animosity," that they achieved mainstream success with hits like "Black Out the Sun." This clip showcases the band's ability to connect with their audience through intense live performances.

What makes this clip rare or significant is its raw, unpolished quality. Unlike many modern music videos, which are heavily produced and edited, this footage captures Sevendust in a more natural setting. The camera work is straightforward, focusing on the band members as they perform with passion and conviction. The lyrics of "Unforgiven" paint a picture of struggle and redemption, themes that resonate deeply with fans of hard rock music.

Sevendust's sound is often described as a fusion of post-grunge and Southern rock, but this clip reveals a more complex dynamic at play. The band's ability to balance heavy riffs with soaring vocal melodies creates a sense of tension and release that draws the viewer in. Lajon Witherspoon's vocals are particularly noteworthy, conveying a sense of vulnerability and urgency.

The lyrics of "Unforgiven" are a key aspect of this clip's significance. The song's themes of struggle, redemption, and the search for meaning resonate deeply with fans of hard rock music. The repetition of the phrase "try to believe you're unforgiven" becomes a kind of mantra, underscoring the idea that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope.

Directed by Scott Hansen, this clip is more than just a showcase for Sevendust's live performance. It's an immersive experience that draws the viewer into the world of the song. The camera work is often frenetic, capturing the energy and intensity of the band as they perform. At times, it feels like we're witnessing a private moment, one that's raw and unfiltered.

Watching this clip, it's clear that Sevendust was never just about their music – it was about creating a sense of community and connection with their audience. The band's ability to tap into the emotions of their fans is evident in every performance, including this live clip of "Unforgiven." Even years after its release, this song remains a fan favorite, and for good reason.

Sevendust's music often deals with themes of struggle, redemption, and personal growth. In "Unforgiven," they explore the idea that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope. The repetition of the phrase "try to believe you're unforgiven" becomes a kind of refrain, underscoring the idea that forgiveness – whether from oneself or others – is always possible.

As we watch this clip, it's hard not to be struck by the raw emotion and intensity of Sevendust's performance. The band is fully immersed in the music, giving themselves over to the moment with a sense of abandon. It's a testament to their commitment to their craft, and a reminder that even in the most intense moments, there is always beauty to be found.

In the end, this clip is more than just a live performance – it's an experience that draws the viewer into the world of Sevendust's music. With its raw energy, emotional intensity, and themes of struggle and redemption, "Unforgiven" remains one of the band's standout tracks.
