Hello everyone! Joey Ibanez Guitar here 👋 I wanted to take a moment to wish you all well. Here is CRADLE OF FILTH - Autograph Session At Milwaukee Metalfest, USA (26th July 1997). My favourite extreme dark metal band. Cradle Of Filth are an English extreme metal band, formed in Suffolk, England in 1991. The band's musical style evolved originally from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic metal and other metal genres. Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. Enjoy! 😎 MEMBERS: Vocal: Dani Filth Guitar: Stuart Anstis Guitar: Gian Pyres Bass: Robin Graves Keyboard: Les Smith Drum: Nicholas Barker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cradle_of_Filth #cradleoffilth #cof #blackmetal #darkmetal #extrememetal #cofautographsession #milwaukeemetalfest #danifilth #stuartanstis #gianpyres #robingraves #lessmith #nicholasbarker

This footage of Cradle of Filth's autograph session at Milwaukee Metalfest in 1997 is a rare gem for fans of extreme metal and the band. At this point, Cradle of Filth was still a relatively new entity on the global scene, formed just six years prior in Suffolk, England. The band's early sound was rooted in black metal, but they were already beginning to evolve into the more polished and theatrical style that would become their hallmark.
The lineup at Milwaukee Metalfest features Dani Filth, Stuart Anstis, Gian Pyres, Robin Graves, Les Smith, and Nicholas Barker - a veritable who's who of extreme metal talent. This was an era when Cradle of Filth was still building momentum, having released only two full-length albums, "The Principle of Evil Made Easy" in 1994 and "V Empire or Dark Faerie Kingdom" in 1996. Their live shows were already gaining a reputation for their theatricality and intensity.
What makes this footage notable is the glimpse it provides into the band's early interactions with fans. The autograph session is a candid moment, unscripted and unpolished, where the band members are relaxed and accessible. Dani Filth, in particular, is on full display, his charismatic stage presence already evident even in these informal surroundings.
The context of Milwaukee Metalfest itself is also significant. As one of the premier metal festivals of its time, it brought together a diverse range of extreme metal bands from around the world. Cradle of Filth was likely still finding their footing among this crowd, but they were undoubtedly making an impression with their unique blend of dark, gothic-inspired lyrics and symphonic metal arrangements.
For fans of Cradle of Filth, this footage is a must-see. It's a rare opportunity to witness the band in a more intimate setting, away from the grandeur of their live shows. The autograph session provides a glimpse into the personalities behind the music, and it's clear that even at this early stage, Dani Filth was already establishing himself as one of the most charismatic figures on the extreme metal scene.
The footage also serves as a reminder of the band's enduring influence on the genre. Cradle of Filth has always been known for pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds, and this autograph session is just one example of their willingness to engage with fans in innovative ways. Even today, they remain one of the most beloved and respected extreme metal bands, and footage like this only adds to their mystique.
As you watch Cradle of Filth sign autographs for fans at Milwaukee Metalfest in 1997, it's impossible not to be struck by the energy and enthusiasm of the band. They're still finding their footing, but they're already making a lasting impression on the extreme metal scene. This footage is a rare treasure that provides a unique glimpse into the early days of one of the most iconic bands in the genre.
