This is an excerpt from the Nest of Vipers podcast hosted by San Francisco independent filmmaker Danny Plotnick (Swingers' Serenade, I'm Not Fascinating). Like the unholy coupling of Fresh Air and The Best Damn Sports Show, Nest of Vipers is smart, funny, and irreverent. Each episode features the rantings, ravings and erudite patter of independent musicians, filmmakers, writers and comedians holding court on cultural topics of the utmost importance. More Excerpts and related film clips at www.youtube.com/nestofivperspodcast. Episode 4 of the Nest of Vipers Podcast is out NOW! Artists' Most Humiliating Moments. Available through iTunes. All artists, no matter how successful, have experienced some horrifically embarrassing moment on the public stage. Unfortunately, when things go wrong, they tend to go wrong in front of hundreds of people. This week our team of fundits include a writer, a musician, a filmmaker, and a theater geek sharing their most humiliating moments as artists. Guests include musician Chris Xefos (King Missile, Drop Quarters), writer Bucky Sinister (author All Blacked Out & Nowhere To Go), and musician and lapsed thespian Kurt Keppler (Fierce Antler). Hosted by filmmaker Danny Plotnick Our guests include: Bucky Sinister is the author of three acclaimed books of poetry, King of the Roadkills, Whiskey and Robots, and the brand new All Blacked Out & Nowhere To Go. Bucky honed his writing skills and performing chops as emcee of the outrageous poetry brawl scene at the Chameleon in San Francisco's Mission District during the mid 90's. His poems have been included in the Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, and King of the Roadkills inspired a short-lived clothing collection in Australia. He recently completed watching 500 movies on DVD this past year as part of the Q500 Experiment. Kurt Keppeler writes music and plays bass with the goth-psych band Fierce Antler. Previous musical forays included the dark-wave band Condor. He is also an accomplished film and video director. His experimental films include Metalman, The Leash Men and Fisherman. He has directed live concert DVDs for Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Bow Wow, Gold Chains and Nellie McKay, among others. Chris Xefos began recording & producing various groups during the 1980s, including indie-rock legends Phantom Tollbooth. In 1989, Chris joined up with the NYC spoken word/art rock group, King Missile. Five years, four albums and a number of alternative rock "hits" (Jesus Was Way Cool and Detachable Penis) later, King Missile disbanded (this version). Chris relocated to San Francisco. He continues to work in various capacities with a number of Bay Area artists, including Victor Krummenacher (Camper Van Beethoven/Monks of Doom), Alison Faith Levy (The Loud Family/The Sippy Cups) and Doug Hilsinger (Bomb/Enorchestra). Chris also has two writing/recording projects; the duo moth wranglers, as well as Chris' solo project, Drop Quarters. More info on Chris' work can be found at xefos.com
