Gonzalo Carrera piano and voice performed "Firth of Fith" (GENESIS) from the album "Selling England by the pound", written by Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Recorded Live at Blue Room Studios London, 12th December 2025, produced and engineered by Itay Kashti. For me, this was very special to paid tribute to another of my favourite bands that truly inspired me on my youth to become a musician along the likes of SUPERTRAMP or YES. "Selling England by the pound" is one of the best albums produced in the 70s, incredible playing and performing from keyboardist Tony Banks along his band mates: Peter, Steve, Mike and Phil, but specially the piece Firth of Fith is one of the most beautiful and best piano intros ever, was really hard work to record this piece live and singing it too, I was very inspired by these great musicians, but what really inspired me even more, was on an incredible twist of coincidence, after having the honor to coincide with GENESIS guitarist Steve Hackett along many other great guests on the album by the band ILLUMINAE "Dark Horizons", and also to coincide with his brother John Hackett on a Db Infusion album, the week of the 19th of September, my friend Tim Jones news editor of the U.K. music magazine Record Collector asked me if would I be interested to go to the launch press release at the Dolby Screening Room London Soho of the new remix of the album "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" of GENESIS and they would be attending the whole of the band with the exception of Phil that wouldn’t be able to come for health reasons, the rest: Peter, Tony, Steve and Mike, they were all there, and I was very moved to be invited to ask some questions to the band members, specially Tony, how did the writing came up in those days, after the event was amazing to coincide and chat with guitarist Steve Hackett that we coincide on the ILLUMINAE album, I could not believe it being on the same room with these legends, and on an incredible coincidence, this was on the 19th September Friday, on the 24th September Wednesday, I was invited by great friend and artist and songwriter from USA Joseph Arthur to perform with him at the Hackney Folk Club at Chats Palace in London and on backing vocals was Melanie Gabriel daughter of Peter Gabriel, it was one of those strange moments in life, Melanie was lovely, humble and very talented, this really inspired me, specially after the passing of Rick Davies (SUPERTRAMP) to do some live recordings and one of the big inspirations came from GENESIS and from Firth of Fith. https://en.wikipedia.org./wiki/Gonzalo_Carrera https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_keyboardists https://genesis-band.com https://www.facebook.com/share/1CkijWxyWF?mibextid=wwXIfr https://recordcollectormag.com/news/genesis-the-lamb-lies-down-again https://www.instagram.com/p/DPCReLriLpU/?igsh=N2tpMW0xZzA1dmQy https://www.illuminae.net/ Instagram: @gonzalocarrera27 https://www.facebook.com/gonzalo.carrera.169 If you enjoy this music, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe.

About R.E.M.

R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980 by drummer Bill Berry, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and lead vocalist Michael Stipe, who were students at the University of Georgia. R.E.M. was noted for Buck's arpeggiated "jangle" guitar playing; Stipe's distinctive vocal style, unique stage presence, and cryptic lyrics; Mills's countermelodic bass lines and backing vocals; and Berry's tight, economical drumming. In the early 1990s, other alternative rock acts suc...
