Roots & Dub Vault — Real music from my personal vault. No shortcuts. No compromise. No AI generated music. Jah Bless! 🇯🇲🔥 ⚠ NOTE: This folder is dated 1980; the original release is dated 1979 (Ballistic Records, UK), with a further Italian pressing (Nocedicoco, NOC 30014) genuinely dated 1980. Both years are documented, depending on the specific pressing. Humanity was recorded at Channel One and mixed by Sylvan Morris at Harry J's, with every song arranged and composed by Prince Lincoln Thompson himself. The backing vocal credits carry a genuine direct connection elsewhere in The Vault: Cedric Myton, later of The Congos and heard on his own Freedom Sounds collaboration Life Stone, sings backup here alongside Clinton Hall and Keith Peterkin — capturing Myton's voice at an earlier, less internationally recognized stage of his career. The full session lineup reads as a genuine cross-section of Kingston's best players: Basil “Benbow” Creary, Michael “Mikey Boo” Richards and Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace sharing drums, Val “The Magician” Douglas and Earl “Bagga” Walker on bass, and a horn section of Bobby Ellis, Vivian Hall, Herman Marquis and Tommy McCook. Geoffrey Chung, Paul “Pablove Black” Dixon, Earl “Wire” Lindo and Cecil Lloyd share keyboard duties. The record's reputation has only grown with time — it was listed in the 1999 book The Rough Guide: Reggae: 100 Essential CDs, and a Discogs collector review calls it a classic with no fillers, every track a genuine winner, built around Prince Lincoln's falsetto singing and citing “San Salvador,” “Humanity,” “Kingston 11” and “They Know Not Jah” as particular favourites. “Mr Kissinger” takes direct aim at Henry Kissinger, the US Secretary of State, giving the record a specifically political edge running alongside its more devotional material. A 2022 Record Store Day reissue on clear 180-gram vinyl, with extensive sleeve notes by Noel Hawks, confirms the record's lasting standing among reissue labels decades after its original release — a genuine roots classic that has never fallen entirely out of print. One of the greatest voices to come out of Jamaica, by more than one collector's account — Cedric Myton singing backup years before The Congos, and a title track built around direct political commentary aimed at Henry Kissinger himself. __________________________________________________________________________________ If you're vibing with these roots reggae & dub sounds and want to hear more classic or rare reggae recordings, hit that subscribe button and turn on notifications.
