I first fell in love with Tenille back in 2013 when she released her song Dear Heart. I was 11 years old at the time and I had just started releasing music of my own. I looked up to her so much as both a singer and songwriter. One year later I actually got the opportunity to meet her at 2014 the Alberta Country Music Awards where we were both nominees. Being only 12, I really didn't know a soul there with the exception of the 'Disney channel girl' and ACMA rising star named Tenille with whom I looked up to. It was a day I will never forget. I was completely shocked when my name was called as the winner of the Fan's Choice Award and it was Tenille who was the very first person to come up and congratulate me! She took me around the room and introduced me to every single person she knew. She made me feel like I was home. To this day, the ACMA has become a family to me and Tenille a female mentor within the country music industry. I have never forgotten her kindness and willingness to lift younger artists up and them shine in the same ways as she has. Since that time 6 years ago, Tenille has become a true inspiration to so many of us by planting her feet in Nashville and leaving her mark. Her song, Somebody's Daughter, exploded on the North American Country music charts! She just finished a tour with both Miranda Lambert & Dierks Bentley and is now going on tour again with an amazing group of female artist including Marren Morris, Miranda & Pistol Annies to name a few! She's an incredible inspiration and true role model. She's also given so much back through music and this is what I honestly love and look up to most about her and why I wanted to do her amazing song as my next cover. Thank you Tenille for giving us your music and your heart! Love ya girl! Keep killing it! *Huge thanks to Wes Inaba for the video production and piano accompaniment! Let's connect! And can she even tell that I don't know what to say? So I just nod my head and wave Well, no one's gonna ask what she wants to be Or why we're both stuck here at the mercy of geography And whether it shines or rains Bet she was somebody's best friend laughing Back when she was somebody's sister Countin' change at the lemonade stand Probably somebody's high school first kiss Dancin' in a gym where the kids all talk about someday plans Now this light'll turn green and I'll hand her a couple dollars Oh, and I'll wonder how she felt when no one caught her She's somebody's daughter Somebody's daughter Somebody's daughter Somebody's daughter Oh, I don't know the reasons why I'm the one who's driving by And she's the one on the corner of 18th Street Bet she was somebody's best friend Back when she was somebody's sister Bet she was somebody's first kiss Oh, Dancing in a gym where the kids all talk about someday, someday Now this light'll turn green and I'll hand her a couple dollars Oh, and I'll wonder if she got lost or they forgot her She's somebody's daughter She's somebody's daughter Songwriters: Barry Dean / Luke Laird / Tenille Towns Somebody's Daughter lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Cypmp
