Smith – Lead vocals, percussion Ron Kunka – Keyboards Side 1: Follow Him Six Feet Wide In the Garden I Owe You Praise The Rock Rolled Side 2: Amazing Grace Holy-Holy-Lord Wealth of Your Love Stand on the Rock L.O.U.D. apparently started off meaning “Love Over Universal Destruction” for the 1987 demo of the same name. By the time this demo came out, it had changed to “Love Obedience Unity Devotion.” Three of the songs here are covers of well-known hymns (“In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Holy-Holy-Holy” – not sure why they put the dashes in that title). I remember seeing ads for this band back in the day in Heaven’s Metal magazine – they seem to have gotten some good exposure back in the day. By 1989 standards, this is straight up commercial metal, a bit heavier than glam metal, a bit lighter than power metal (just by a small bit mind you – their cover of “Amazing Grace” has a major Iron Maiden influence), and no real traces of the blues hard rock that was becoming popular at this time. Pretty quality stuff that should have gone further back in the day.
