About Dave Navarro

David Michael Navarro (born June 7, 1967) is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the rock band Jane's Addiction, appearing on all four studio albums. Between 1993 and 1998 during their first breakup, Navarro was the guitarist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, recording one studio album, One Hot Minute (1995), before departing. He has also released one solo album to date, Trust No One (2001). Navarro has also been a member of Jane's Addiction-related bands Deconstruction and the Panic Channel. AllMusic's Greg Prato described Navarro as "one of alternative rock's first true guitar heroes", with an eclectic playing style that merges heavy metal, psychedelia, and modern rock. "He's one of the last great guitarists," said former Black Flag singer Henry Rollins. Navarro also was a host and judge on Ink Master, an American tattoo competition reality series that aired on Paramount Network (formerly called Spike) from 2012 to 2020 and Paramount+ since 2022. He departed the show in 2022 after its 14th season.

The multifaceted talent of Dave Navarro has left an indelible mark on the music landscape. As a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, Navarro's contributions to alternative rock have been nothing short of revolutionary. With a career spanning over five decades, his influence can be seen in various aspects of music history.

One of the most significant chapters in Navarro's career was his tenure as the lead guitarist for Jane's Addiction. Formed in 1967, the band would go on to release four studio albums, with Navarro appearing on all of them. His eclectic playing style, which merged heavy metal, psychedelia, and modern rock, earned him recognition as "one of alternative rock's first true guitar heroes" according to AllMusic's Greg Prato.

The archive features a clip showcasing Navarro's gear setup, where he discusses his preferred tone and equipment. In the video, "Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction) Guitar Tone/Gear: PRS SE, Marshall JCM900, Fender 65 Reverb #shorts," Navarro shares his affinity for the PRS SE guitar, paired with a Marshall JCM900 amplifier and a vintage Fender 65 Reverb unit. This setup not only reflects his ability to adapt to various tones but also highlights his dedication to preserving the authenticity of classic rock sounds.

Navarro's time with Jane's Addiction was marked by the release of their breakthrough album "Ritual de lo Habitual" (1990), which featured hits like "Been Caught Stealing" and "Stop!" The album's success can be attributed, in part, to Navarro's innovative guitar work, which added a new dimension to the band's sound. His influence on alternative rock was further solidified when he joined Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1993, replacing John Frusciante. During his tenure with the band, Navarro recorded one studio album, "One Hot Minute" (1995), before departing in 1998.

Navarro's departure from Red Hot Chili Peppers marked a significant turning point in his career. He went on to form the Panic Channel and Deconstruction, both of which were related to Jane's Addiction. The solo album "Trust No One" (2001) showcased Navarro's ability to experiment with different sounds, further cementing his reputation as a versatile musician.

Beyond his work as a musician, Navarro has also made a name for himself as a television personality. His departure from the show in 2022 marked the end of a successful run, with Navarro having been a part of the program for over a decade.
