Silent Night | Virtual Holiday Concert Series
Join Eleanor McCain at home this holiday season as she performs Silent Night. Silent Night was composed in 1818 by Franz Gruber to the lyrics of Joseph Mohr. The song’s lilting message and peaceful lyrics remind us of a universal sense of grace that unites people across all cultures and faiths. Perhaps at no time in the song’s history was this message more important than the Christmas Truce of 1914 when, at the height of World War 1, German and British soldiers on the front lines in Flanders laid down their weapons on Christmas Eve and together sang “Silent Night”. It was sung simultaneously in German, French, and English. Eleanor McCain: vocals Brigham Phillips: piano and arranger Justin Abedin: guitar Pat Kilbride: bass
