I went along to a celebration of the announcement of the Tour de France Stage 3 2014 start in Cambridge. I didn't really think and found that all kinds of newspeople were there. I thought I'd film from the reverse angle so to speak, from the lunchtime news at http://youtu.be/x-LHPRuZjQQ and evening news at http://youtu.be/YwP6V1dzZZM. And here's the result, if a little shaky. Interesting that we didn't pay anything for the stage start, normally in France you'd expect to pay handsomely for the privilege. This is because it makes the town a fortune in return. Councillor Martin Curtis, our cycling Tsar, did well to point that out. Often there's negative responses by many to closed roads without considering the massive benefits. After the interviews there was requests for us to ride around whilst they filmed us for the evening programme. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing and in between changes of camera angle. Interesting to see just how much of that gets in, I suspect a few seconds, or maybe more with a voice-over. Other than that, there was a great chance to talk to a lot of people involved in cycling in Cambridge. One thing to note was just how many people were cycling around who were completely oblivious to what was going on. In that respect it mimics the amount of people who drive cars and have no interest in F1.
