Old Wisconsin Guy covers a bit of "For What It's Worth", a song written by Stephen Stills and performed by Buffalo Springfield. The tune was recorded in early December 1966 and released as a single two days before Christmas that same year. It peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1967. It was later added to the March 1967 second pressing of their first album, Buffalo Springfield. The title was added after the song was written, and does not appear in the lyrics. The singer: Old Wisconsin Guy is an amateur vocalist whose sole musical training has been singing karaoke for more than 25 years in bars and bowling alleys. Enjoying the music from decades ago is more important than the quality of the vocals and audio/video production. For Old Wisconsin Guy, it's about “old guy-ness”, which is more of a state of mind than anything else.
