Jack Clement with Leon Russell, Duane Eddy, Benmont Tench
Before becoming known as Cowboy Jack Clement, Jack had been an engineer for Sam Philips at Sun Records, capturing some of the most important rockabilly and early rock and roll recordings by the likes of Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison. Clement became one of many artists that T Bone Burnett produced between 2008-2015. Before his death in August 2013, Clement recorded his album Once and For All, and Burnett brought in some of the best musicians available. Among those on the two songs here, "Fools Like Me" and "Got Leaving on Her Mind," Leon Russell played piano, Benmont Tench (of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers) played organ, and Duane Eddy, the King of the twang, played guitar. Leon owned the label (Shelter Records) that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers premiered on, and Duane Eddy had made several songs in the early 60s with Leon on keyboards.
