Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm - Official Trailer

Rockfield Studio
StudioRareyoutube

50 years ago, deep in the Welsh countryside, two brothers were milking cows and preparing to take over the family farm - but dreamed of making music. They had the audacious idea to build a studio in their farmhouse attic and record their own tunes. Animals were kicked out of barns and musicians were moved into Nan’s spare bedroom. Inadvertently, they’d launched the legendary #Rockfield studios. #BlackSabbath, #Oasis, #Coldplay, Stone Roses, Robert Plant, Simple Minds and more recall the mayhem and music they made at Rockfield over the decades. This is a story of rock and roll dreams intertwined with a family business’s fight for survival in the face of an ever-changing music landscape. About This Footage

The dusty attic of a rural farmhouse, 1963. Two brothers, Kingsley and Charles Ward, are busy laying the foundations for their family's future - not just in farming, but in music. Their audacious dream takes shape as Rockfield Studios is born, a residential recording studio nestled deep within the Welsh countryside. This is no ordinary story of artistic expression; it's one of resilience, creativity, and the unbreakable bond between music and family.

As we delve into the world of Rockfield, the names of iconic bands and artists begin to emerge: Black Sabbath, Oasis, Coldplay, The Stone Roses, Robert Plant, Simple Minds. These legends have all left their mark on the studio's walls, creating some of their most enduring work within its confines. But what makes this footage so remarkable is not just the caliber of talent that has passed through Rockfield's doors; it's the intimate, behind-the-scenes look at a family business fighting to stay afloat in an ever-changing industry.

The trailer for "Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm" offers a tantalizing glimpse into the studio's rich history. We see grainy footage of the brothers tending to their cows, juxtaposed with images of musicians jamming in cramped spaces - Nan's spare bedroom, anyone? It's a testament to the Wards' unwavering dedication to their craft and their willingness to adapt to the demands of an evolving music landscape.

One of the most striking aspects of Rockfield's story is its grassroots nature. This wasn't some high-flying producer or record label that came up with the idea; it was two brothers, driven by a shared passion for music and a desire to preserve their family's legacy. As we watch the trailer, we're reminded that even in the face of adversity - and Rockfield has faced its fair share over the years - creativity can thrive.

The footage is rare because it offers a glimpse into the studio's private world, one that's often shrouded in mystery. We see snippets of recording sessions, the camaraderie between musicians, and the quiet moments of introspection that come with creating something truly special. It's a reminder that music is not just about the final product; it's about the people, the places, and the experiences that shape its creation.

Watching this trailer will leave you with a sense of awe for the Wards' perseverance and a deep appreciation for the role that Rockfield has played in shaping the music landscape. It's a story of family, community, and the transformative power of art to bring people together. As we embark on this journey into the heart of Rockfield Studios, one thing is clear: this is more than just a documentary - it's an ode to the enduring spirit of creativity that has made music such an integral part of our lives.

The dusty attic may be quiet now, but its legacy lives on through the countless artists who have walked through those doors. As we watch "Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm," we're not just witnessing a story about music; we're experiencing a testament to the human spirit's capacity for innovation, resilience, and beauty.
