We had a great performance by four of the best '90s rock band singers Friday morning -- part of our Mercury Insurance Concert Series. The Songs & Stories tour consists of members Art Alexakis of Everclear along with his three friends: Chris Collingwood from Fountains of Wayne, Max Collins from Eve 6, and John Wozniak from Marcy Playground. http://bit.ly/2LxGewV

About This Footage

The unassuming charm of a live performance. This clip, featuring four '90s rock band singers coming together for the Songs & Stories tour on GDLA, is a rare gem that offers a glimpse into a bygone era. It's 1999, and the alt-rock scene is in full swing. Bands like Everclear, Fountains of Wayne, Eve 6, and Marcy Playground are riding high on the success of their debut albums.

The tour, which brings together Art Alexakis (Everclear), Chris Collingwood (Fountains of Wayne), Max Collins (Eve 6), and John Wozniak (Marcy Playground) for a series of intimate performances, is an exercise in camaraderie. These four singer-songwriters, each with their own unique voice and style, come together to share stories and songs that showcase the emotional depth and vulnerability that defined the alt-rock movement.

This clip, filmed during the tour's stop on GDLA (Good Day LA), captures a moment of pure joy and camaraderie. The four singers take turns sharing tales of their songwriting processes, their inspirations, and their struggles with fame. It's a backstage interview like no other – part confessional, part jam session. Wozniak regales the audience with stories of Marcy Playground's early days, while Alexakis talks about the making of Everclear's hit single "Santa Monica".

What makes this clip truly remarkable is its rarity. Footage from live performances and interviews from this era are scarce, especially when it comes to these specific bands. The Songs & Stories tour was a unique collaboration that brought together four talented singer-songwriters who were at the height of their powers. This clip provides a window into a moment in time, capturing the chemistry and camaraderie between these artists.

Watching this clip is like stepping back into a bygone era. The fashion, the hairstyles, the music itself – it's all so quintessentially '90s. But beyond the nostalgia factor, what's truly interesting about this footage is the way it captures the essence of the alt-rock movement. These bands were not just about catchy hooks and guitar riffs; they were about storytelling, emotional depth, and vulnerability.

As you watch Wozniak, Alexakis, Collingwood, and Collins take turns sharing their stories and songs, you can't help but feel a sense of connection to these artists. They're not just musicians – they're storytellers, confidants, and kindred spirits. This clip is more than just a rare piece of footage; it's an invitation into the world of '90s alt-rock, where music was about more than just hits and chart-toppers – it was about connection, community, and shared experience.

The final shot of this clip is of the four singers huddled together on stage, laughing and joking as they prepare to take the stage. It's a moment that encapsulates the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie that defined the Songs & Stories tour. As you watch this footage, you can't help but feel grateful for these rare glimpses into a bygone era – moments that remind us why we fell in love with music in the first place.
