CCARS #7 - Prove My Love / Violent Femmes
This song has so many great associations for me. The first Violent Femmes album was passed around on cassettes among all of us in middle school. Later at age 19, this song "Prove My Love" was a reliable encore for the Rockin' Knights of Summer, the band I formed expressly for the purpose of touring summer camps in the summer of '89. In college I was lucky enough to see the band play at the tiny (original) Knitting Factory space on Houston and they blew my mind in new ways. #nevertell I also have decades of memories of singing all the Femmes songs and parties and campfires with Craig Wedren, who graces us with his vocals. Our chorus includes #CCARS alums Nadia Quinn, Natalie Morales (who also gets credit for excellent filter selection), Andrew Leeds, Lindsey Kraft, Beth Dover and Joe Lo Truglio PLUS new voices Morgan Walsh and Matt Walsh! And finally, on the glasses, Oliver Pollack (on loan from Dean Pollack and Jessica Falcone) Oh and teen hearthrob David Wain on drums, bass & guitar. Collaborative Covers by Amateurs (and some pros) of Rock Songs - aka #CCARS, recorded from our separate home quarantines, just for fun and distraction during this challenging time.
