THE BEATLES ARE COMING!THE FAB 4 line up consist of Paul McCartney(Bass), John Lennon(GTR), George Harrison(GTR), and Ringo Starr(Drums) was officially completed by Aug/Sept '62.THIS WAS A POWERFUL FOURSOME.John Lennon states in 1966, "We're more popular than Jesus now."Before, being turned down by record companies time again, it was not until Brian Epstein(The Beatles manager)saw The Quarrymen/Silver Beatles(The Beatles original band name)play at the Cavern Club in London in the early 60's who was inspired and signed them a record deal in May '62 at EMI Records on Abbey Road.George Martin(The Beatles Producer)wanted to capture a live recording album of The Beatles playing live at the Cavern Club, but terrible acoustics in the club and bad sound quality made Martin deflate the idea.Therefore The Beatles made their first live band album to capture the club vibe(few overdubs)in EMI studios instead during a long jam session at Abbey Road which became to be the "Please Please Me" album.The majority of The Beatles first album was recorded on one day in a 13 hr straight jam session on a BTR 2 track tape machine.The album was a mixture of covers and Lennon/McCartney originals.Brian Epstein and The Beatles meet up with A&R man and Parlophone Label organizer George Martin on Wed June 6, '62 at London's Abbey Road studio for a final battle for a recording contract.This was the only recording session taken place at Abbey Road studio's with drummer Pete Best before Ringo Starr joining the group in Aug '62.The Beatles arrive at John F. Kennedy's airport in New York on Feb 7, '64 for the 1st time in the US.The 1st Beatles press conference was also held at JFK's airport.On Feb 8,'64 rehearsals began at CBS Studios in NY for The Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan show where 73 million views would tune in on Feb 9, '64.George Harrison playing 1 of the 2 Gretsch Chet Akins Country Gentlemen guitars(similar but with different controls).John Lennon playing his trusty Rickenbacker '58 325 which was repainted black(original finish was natural)with the factory style Kauffman vibrato system now being replaced to a Bigsby tremolo, and the knobs were also replaced because the factory "oven" knobs fell off the guitar.This was John's first American made guitar and was the 1st Rickenbacker 325 out of the 3 he had, and was the 2nd 6 string Rickenbacker 325.The Feb 12, '64 Carnegie Hall NY show would be John's last ROCK CONCERT on stage with this guitar before it was retired for ever(restored to its original natural finish in the '70's)before using his new '64 Rickenbacker 325 in stock black and Kauffman vibrato system.Both Lennon and Harrison acquired an upgraded Vox AC-30 in a stock black covering instead of the white(recovered black AC-30's), by late '63 they BUMPED up to Vox AC-50(possibly AC-100)amps.Paul McCartney using his 2nd '63 Hofner violin 500/1 model bass(which he still uses today!)which was purchased sometime between Oct-Dec '63.Paul was also using a Vox T-60 bass amp but was shortly replaced by a custom made Vox AC-30 that was modified by Vox worker D**k Denney to suit a bass.The reason why McCartney's amps were replaced was because the T-60's kept blowing up and would have to be fixed or replaced by Beatles roadie Mel Evans.Paul eventually started using a Vox AC-100 cab/head in late '63.Ringo Starr playing his 20" Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl Kit #2 that he purchased in early '64 at Manny's Music in NY after arriving to the US for The Beatles 1st American tour.This would be kit #2 and the 2nd of the 20" bass drum kits.Also, Ringo did purchase a 20" Zildjian cymbal which can be seen pretty clearly during the Ed Sullivan shows/rehearsals, and later switched from Swiss-made Paiste cymbals(purchased at Drum City)to Zildjian Turkish cymbals.Drop-"T" logo head #2 in action!I am using my Boss BD-2 Blues Driver over the drums with my Boss GE-7Equalizer to mimic the RAUNCY PA SYSTEMS AND BOOTLEG SOUNDS OF A BEATLES CONCERT!IT WAS HARD TO HEAR WHERE I WAS AT IN THIS CONCERT OVER THE ROCK'N ROLL SCREAMS OF BEATLEMANIA MEYHAM!Just like the real VIBE!I wanted to mimic Ringo Starr's drum licks, to his possessed BEATLEMANIA FEVER BOBBING HEAD, to even mimicking the movement of rearranging the kit and microphone stand on the rotating platform the used to face different sections of the crowd in the coliseum.Film studied carefully! 1st U.S. Beatles Concert @ the Washington Coliseum February 11, 1964 FULL Setlist 1.Roll Over Beethoven 2.From Me To You 3.I Saw Her Standing There 4.This Boy 5.All My Loving 6.I Wanna Be Your Man 7.Please Please Me 8.Till There Was You 9.She Loves You 10.I Want To Hold Your Hand 11.Twist And Shout 12.Long Tall Sally The Beatles John Lennon-gtr Paul McCartney-bass gtr George Harrison-gtr Ringo Starr-drums Gear RolandTDK-4PVDrums(Ringo*CustomSetting) RolandmicroCubeGX(BritCombo/ReverbSetting) VicFirthStyx/Phones BossGE-7Equalizer BossBD-2BluesDriver LudwigSpeedKing/Throne TheBeatlesLive@WashingtonColiseumFeb11,'64T
