Down Stretch by Tommy Bolin and Energy

When Tommy Bolin formed Energy, he was utterly inspired by the cutting edge of what was going on in the New York jazz fusion scene. This song “Down Stretch” was written by Jan Hammer and was featured on Jeremy Steig‘s Energy album. What Tommy’s take on Down Stretch is more inspired by what Mahavishnu John McLaughlin was doing, and of course, Jan Hammer was in the Mahavishnu Orchestra. This song was recorded before that group was formed. While Tommy was in Boulder, his heart and mind was a New York City. And how many 3.2 beer bars wanted to book this kind of band? How about almost none! Tommy was a rare genius. He should’ve been living at that time in New York City. This song is on our Tommy Bolin Archives Energy Radio Broadcast album. Look for it on YouTube. This brings to mind the silly season stuff that’s going on about us occasionally posting pictures we find somewhere else. The bottom line is the music and we are the ones who put out THE MUSIC (20 CDs worth) and then create new videos with that music and share deep true narratives, that nobody else bothers to learn from or share themselves!
