Episode 4: BroomPower In this brand new Orkney Series, we take you through the sets from our newly released album, Energy Islands! See the places that inspired them, and hear a bit of the music. If you like what you hear, head to faramusic.co.uk to buy the full thing! Orkney has lead the way in renewable energy innovation since the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) took up residence there in 2003. Though the islands may be geographically small, they provide ideal conditions for the advancement of techniques in harnessing energy from a number of renewable sources, including wave, tidal and solar. We are proud that our homeland is proving such an important hub for these developments, and felt we would like to base our 3rd studio album around this theme. These are our Energy Islands, and we hope you'll enjoy the music that we've created to reflect them! By this episode, Rory (who hails from Assynt in the North West of Scotland) had decided he'd had quite enough of it all being about Orkney! So, we headed across the Pentland Firth and made our way towards Ullapool. Here, we found out a little more about the community led hydro scheme, BroomPower. A huge thank you to our videographer Graham MacIver at Studio 27 for the amazing job he’s done showcasing Orkney and the north west Highlands in this series. Hope you enjoy Episode 4! faramusic.co.uk
