Ultra-Rare! Harley's FIRST Factory Racer - 1915 Harley-Davidson 11K
An ultra rare sight - Harley's first factory racer, a 1915 Harley-Davidson 11K leaving the pit-lane at the Linas-Montlhéry race track. It was Bill Ottoway who was tasked in 1914 the design of a new racing machine and in setting up a professional Harley-Davidson racing team. Ottoway’s first racer for Harley-Davidson was the Model 11K, a purpose-built track machine with no brakes, no gears, no suspension and a highly tuned engine. Ottoway formed Harley-Davidson’s first factory racing team in 1915, using the factory’s 61ci F-head 11K racers featuring the big square pannier gas tanks that were distinctively riveted together. The Model 11K gave Harley-Davidson its first real racing victories, and they were very special machines built by hand. This 1915 Harley-Davidson Model 11K board track racer (btr) is an ultra rare machine, one of just four or five known to exist from the heyday of American board track racing. #shorts
