New Music Releases: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Shabazz Palaces, and Jenny Lewis In this week's New Releases Roundup, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers reunite to debut a "rowdier" sound, hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces unveil their second album, and Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis goes solo for the third time. In this week's New Releases Roundup, Tom Petty gets rowdy, a hip-hop duo goes avant-garde, and Rilo Kiley's leading lady embarks on her own voyage. It's been in the works for three years, and finally Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have released their new album, the noisy, psychedelic Hypnotic Eye. Its combination of fuzzy guitars, loud organ and heavy rhythms makes it rank among the rowdiest music the band has ever released. Experimental hip hop duo Shah-baz Palaces are putting out their second album, Lays Majesty, which finds the group continuing to push the boundaries of rap while balancing the avant garde with the easily accessible. Her band Rilo Kiley may have been put on ice, but Jenny Lewis, the band's star, continues her solo career with The Voyager, her third album. This time Beck pops in for a duet, and producer Ryan Adams helps expand her sound with aspects of Fleetwood Mac and the smooth tones of yacht rock.
