New kit! The epitome of an impulse buy lol! Happen to be at a Guitar Center not too long ago and they had on of these on the shelf new, on sale for like $80 off, and I had like $150 of free money from my last big purchase. Last thing I needed was another kit, but I've been wanting one of these small kits for a while for small coffee shop/restaurant gigs whenever those start to be playable in person again. It was also in the rare GC exclusive color Mojave red swirl, and thanks to COVID it's even more rare since these cheaper kits have most of their components coming from China. Anyway, Ludwig never ceases to amaze me. I wasn't expecting much being a $400 kit, but I was blown away at how good the playback sounded after recording this track. Anyone who is on the fence about one of these little kits, you really can't go wrong for the price at all. The Doors are easily in my list of top 10 bands of all time. John Densmore has also been one of my biggest influences. Hearing his genius adaptation of the classic Brazilian Bossa Nova groove really got me branching out to other drum styles. It's safe to say I probably would've never took the time to master the Bossa Nova groove and many other latin grooves if it wasn't for this song alone. Anyway I've been wanting to do this one for a while and this new little kit was a great fit for it! I hope you guys enjoy! R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980 by drummer Bill Berry, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and lead vocalist Michael Stipe, who were students at the University of Georgia. R.E.M. was noted for Buck's arpeggiated "jangle" guitar playing; Stipe's distinctive vocal style, unique stage presence, and cryptic lyrics; Mills's countermelodic bass lines and backing vocals; and Berry's tight, economical drumming. In the early 1990s, other alternative rock acts suc...
