Sandy Diamond & The Rhinestones #2 2nd Set--Dianne

Tom Waits
Rareyoutube

"Multi-faceted poet/playwright Sandy Diamond debuted her new seven-piece band at The Upstage April 14th and 21st with benefits for The Upstage and radio station KPTZ. Diamond--formerly of Quasimodo & The Bellringers--spins new tales of loss and longing, hilarity and woe: an Olympic swimmer at a country river, 9/11, Wall Street, a boy with a gun, a naughty blues, and an ode to Joel Levy who called Sandy "the Tom Waits of Port Townsend." The music swings from rock and soul to jazz and Americana, with a bit of classical thrown in for good measure. "The Rhinestones" are Paul Rogers— elegant and rollicking on piano and accordion, George Rezendes tasty on guitar—(he makes you hungry for more), heartbeat-of-the-band bassist Dirk Anderson, Tom Svornich eloquent on drums, on mandolin plucky Dixie Llewellyn and wizard Dave Meis purring and howling on dobro and steel guitar. The classical violin of Victoria Poling soars; our special guest is the luminous vocalist Carla Main."
