REBROADCAST TUESDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2026 - CRIME WATCH LIVE Today's Highlights: Balaclava-clad gunman ambushes Tunapuna officers— PC Phillip and resident shot during exchange of gunfire • Police Constable Phillip and a 25-year-old Tunapuna resident were wounded on Monday night after a gunman opened fire on officers responding to a report along Upper Fairley Street. • During the incident, another man in the area identified himself to officers as Andel Smith, 25, of Upper Fairley Street, Tunapuna, and reported that he had also been shot. Both PC Phillip and Smith were conveyed for medical treatment—Phillip for a gunshot wound to the leg and Smith for a gunshot injury to his right arm. Longdenville man known as “Rico” stabbed to death, troubled history of violence emerges: • A 28-year-old labourer identified as Kyle Edmund aka Rico of Flemming Street, Longdenville, died after being stabbed during an altercation on Monday 9 February 2026. • Police reported that around 6:30pm, Edmund was standing along Flemming Street when a man known as Brian McKenna, alias “Mud,” allegedly approached armed with a knife and stabbed him twice—once to the right shoulder and once to the chest. • The victim ran a short distance before being taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where he later died at 7:10 pm. • A 17-year-old male who was with the victim received a minor injury but declined medical treatment. Gabriel detained by immigration, set for deportation from Guyana days after cybercrime clearance Revenge Shooting Leaves man Dead, Woman Wounded in Maracas, St. Joseph • A violent chain of events linked to an earlier altercation ended in gunfire on Monday afternoon, February 9, 2026, at Upper Wharf Trace, Maracas, St. Joseph, leaving one man dead and a woman nursing a gunshot wound. • Police identified the deceased as 42-year-old Kerwyn Sammerson, also known as “Bellyez”, of Upper Wharf Trace, while the injured woman was identified as 38-year-old Ornella Roberts, also from the same area. Body of Missing Teen Gabriel Nelson Found After Grand Lagoon Incident • The body of 17-year-old Gabriel Nelson, who went missing while bathing at Grand Lagoon, Mayaro, was discovered on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, following an intensive search effort. • Nelson, a Form Five student of St Stephen’s College, disappeared on Sunday afternoon after encountering difficulty while swimming with relatives in chest-high water about 50 feet from shore at Eccles Road East.
