Aussie group Silverchair formed in Newcastle in 1992 with three young mates - Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou before going on to achieve incredible success. Their debut album Frogstomp was the first Australian album since INXS to hit the U.S top 10, selling more than 2.5 million copies. In 1995 it became the most played song on U.S modern rock radio. They released five studio albums in total, selling more than 6 million copies around the world along the way. The group also won a record 21 ARIA awards before going on ‘indefinite hibernation’ in 2011. Now Gillies and Joannou have written a new book called Love and Pain, detailing their lives inside and outside Silverchair.
