Band leader Sonny was utterly prolific, writing, producing and releasing vinyl. at a furious rate through the 50's A driving force at King where he released near 30 45's on the King label alone. Married the sassy Lula Reed and partnered Freddie KIng on countless recordings. Sonny was once busy man, his prowess with the pen and piano became legendary. On this one of his very rarest 7" Sonny produces a narcotic, totally killer "Popcorn" groove, that Sonny Thompson hid away on a flipside. Now absorb yourself into Sonny's ease with the piano, blending guitar and wailing saxophone conjuring up an exotic journey into "Popcorn Dance". His commutate ease with the keys, building slowing but surely into some finger-stretching solos whilst the snarling Saxophonist rips his way through. Considerate drumming, tricky guitar picking and this tune slowly creeps under your skin. Weirdly addictive I'm unable to stop playing it today..
