About This Footage

This 2014 art film by Palaye Royale is a rare and intriguing piece of footage that showcases the band's creative vision. The clip, titled "Cemeteries No. 01 (Running)", clocks in at 4:46 minutes and features the band performing an original track.

The artist, Palaye Royale, has a distinct origin story that sets them apart from other acts in their genre. Formed in Las Vegas in 2008 by brothers Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig, and Emerson Barrett under the name Kropp Circle, they released one EP and two singles before rebranding as Palaye Royale in 2011. Since then, they have released five full-length albums and four EPs through Sumerian Records.

The lyrics of "Cemeteries No. 01 (Running)" paint a vivid picture of themes that are both dark and introspective. The song's narrative explores the idea of escapism, with the repetition of "running" serving as a metaphor for fleeing from the pressures of reality. The lines "When the moon hits the sun / It's becoming undone" suggest a sense of chaos and disorder.

The music video itself is an art film that showcases the band's creative vision. Directed by Sebastian Danzig and co-edited by Emerson Barrett, the clip features Palaye Royale performing the song in a hauntingly beautiful setting. The use of dim lighting and muted colors creates a moody atmosphere that complements the song's themes.

The fact that this footage is tagged as "Rare" on DeepCutsArchive suggests that it may be one of the only existing recordings of Palaye Royale performing this particular track. For fans of the band, this clip will provide a unique glimpse into their early work and creative process.

It's worth noting that the song's themes of escapism and rebellion against societal norms are not uncommon in rock music. However, the way Palaye Royale presents these ideas through their lyrics and visuals is distinctive and thought-provoking. The repetition of "running" becomes a sort of mantra, emphasizing the idea that sometimes it's necessary to break free from the constraints of reality.

The clip also highlights the band's ability to craft catchy hooks and melodies, as evidenced by the song's repetitive chorus. This is particularly evident in the final section of the video, where the repetition of "running" becomes almost hypnotic.

Overall, this 2014 art film by Palaye Royale is a fascinating piece of footage that showcases the band's creative vision and artistic expression. For fans of rock music and those interested in exploring new sounds, this clip provides a unique glimpse into the early work of a talented and innovative band.
