Andy Summers on The Guitar Show (Episode 10), broadcast in 2002 on ABC TV Australia. In this clip Andy talks about his early days of gigging at a jazz club in his hometown, and other musical experiences before he joined the Police in 1977. He also discusses the musical frustration he felt towards the end of the Police, and his lifelong love of jazz and playing the guitar. The live performance sequences are from The Basement in Sydney, during his June 2001 tour with the Andy Summers Trio. About Andy Summers
Andrew James Summers (born 31 December 1942) is an English guitarist best known as a member of the rock band the Police. Prior to joining the Police, Summers had been a member of several bands during the 1960s, including Zoot Money's Big Roll Band, Dantalian's Chariot, Soft Machine, and the Animals. He spent the first half of the 1970s furthering his musical education, before returning to professional work in 1975, eventually joining the Police two years later.
