The Temptations - Tammi Terrell and David Ruffin at Motown Picnic
A scene from the 1998 miniseries Temptations, which depicts singer Tammi Terrell (Nyjah Moore) accompanying boyfriend David Ruffin (Leon Robinson) to the 1966 Motown picnic. After escaping an abusive relationship with James Brown, Tammi began another volatile relationship with David Ruffin in 1965. David became more abusive as his drug addiction increased. Tammi finally left him after he hit her in the head with his motorcycle helmet in 1965. Tammi went on to record classic duets with Marvin Gaye, but she tragically died from a brain tumor at the age of 24 in 1970.

Thomasina Winifred Montgomery, professionally known as Tammi Terrell, was an American singer-songwriter, widely known as a star singer for Motown Records during the 1960s, notably for a series of duets with singer Marvin Gaye.
