2017 Baton Rouge Blues Festival lineup
Free and open to the public, the 2017 Baton Rouge Blues Festival takes place on April 8 – 9 in downtown Baton Rouge. Originating in 1981, the Baton Rouge Blues Festival is one of the oldest free blues festivals in America. Produced by the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, the festival is made possible in part by the Foundation's board of directors, a volunteer Blues Festival committee, local support and generous partners. In order to keep the festival free, we appreciate your cooperation in supporting our vendors and not bringing any outside food or drink. All revenue generated from the festival goes toward the mission of the Blues Foundation to help continue its goal to promote, preserve and celebrate the swamp blues music native to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. About The Foundations
The Foundations were a British soul band who were primarily active between 1967 and 1970. The group's background was West Indian, White British and Sri Lankan. Their 1967 debut single "Baby Now That I've Found You" reached number one in the UK and Canada, and number eleven in the US. Their 1968 single "Build Me Up Buttercup" reached number two in the UK and number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. The group was the first multi-racial group to have a number one hit in the UK in the 1960s.
