In this clip, Eddie Vedder shares the emotional backstory behind the track during a 2018 fundraiser for homelessness at Seattle’s Safeco Field. The song tells the story of an unhoused Vietnam War veteran named Eddie, whom Vedder befriended while recording the album, Ten. Sadly, Eddie never got to hear the song that was partly inspired by his struggles.
