Build Me Up Buttercup" is the name of a pop song written by Mike d'Abo and Tony Macaulay, and released by The Foundations with Colin Young singing the lead vocals in 1968. This was the third major hit for The Foundations. Colin Young replaced Clem Curtis in 1968 and this was the first Foundations hit on which he sang. It reached number 2 on the UK charts and number 3 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1969, where it stayed for 11 weeks. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim play this song during the seventh-inning stretch, after Take Me Out to the Ballgame; fans most often sing along with it, much like Sweet Caroline and the Boston Red Sox, as well as "New York, New York" and the New York Yankees. The song is also sung by fans and especially students during Wisconsin Badgers football and Boston College Eagles football games.
